How is this different from hiring a special education attorney?
Attorneys are essential when disputes escalate to due process or mediation. Tony's role is to help families understand, prepare, and advocate before it gets to that point — and to help you avoid situations that require legal intervention in the first place. Most families never need a lawyer when they have the right information going in.
Do you work with families outside of Illinois?
Tony's expertise is specifically in Illinois special education law and ISBE compliance. For document review and strategy sessions, families in other states can still benefit — IDEA is federal law. For state-specific procedural questions, Tony will be upfront about what he does and doesn't know about your state's regulations.
What age students do you work with?
Tony specializes in middle and high school students (grades 6–12), with particular depth in transition planning for students ages 14+. This is where his seven years of classroom experience is most directly applicable. For younger students, Tony can still provide document review and strategy — he'll tell you if your situation exceeds his area of focus.
What should I bring to the free consultation?
Just yourself and your questions. If you have a current IEP, 504, or evaluation report, you're welcome to share it beforehand so Tony can review it before the call — but it's not required. The consultation is a conversation to understand your situation and figure out if and how Tony can help.
